Page 39

This is one of my favorite pages because it is one of those scenes that you think up when you’re first thinking about the concept as a whole. Also I’m quite proud of the way it came out, especially cell #4 with the lens flare. I couldn’t have pictured the effect to be any more perfect. Same with page 38. I really feel this great sense of accomplishment with 38 and 39. In my opinion they’re my best pages yet. I am so happy that my skill is continuing to grow week to week, and how rapid it is. I am very excite!

Here’s an additional element to ‘Song of the Page’. I guess i’ll call them inspiration icons. There are two of them as shown below.

The treble clef icon means the “sound” of the chosen song is the part that goes with the page and not the lyrics. However the sound may include the instrumental quality the singer brings to the song. The quill icon means that the “lyrics” are what I’m focusing on and not the sound. When the icons are used together, that of course means that both the sound and the lyrics are in focus.

This weeks Song of the Page is kinds special because it is the one song that perfectly encompasses the tone of the entirety of SSW, not just this page. Thank you and goodnight.

    • ali

Yah i was so amazed when i did that.

      • joenis

it gives that cinematic feel i think that you are going for. so congrats! though.. seriously.. in the first few cells it looks like hes got an ape ass until I see that what i thought was an ass glow.. then i realized oh hey its a break light! lol

        • ali

Break light? No thats his ass alarm. It glows when there’s danger :P

          • shawn

hahaha i thought the same thing. why is his ass showing!?

            nonetheless awesome strip this week.

No but honestly, I’m kinda happy you saw it like that. Ideally, everything would be black. Black armor, masks, and black motorcycles. So everything would be sorta lost or convoluted, and the Kenshi would look like some kind of half man, half machine, creature thing. I want them to look as intimidating as possible. Humans are always afraid of what they don’t understand. So in a way, the Kenshi become more terrifying this way.

terrifying because you can see their asses? i don’t get it.
