thanks for the links, i didn't think anyone would actually post any. I'll read em in a bit. I'm glad you pointed out that it's a "Biased" site. Seems one problem with things like that is that once someone takes a side either way on an argument it always becomes super biased. Unfortunate but because of that we all just gotta do our own reading and make a judgement call on our own based on our own research i guess (providing sources are reliable of course).

Either way, from what I've seen in both arguments, wither i believe it yet or not i think we should all at least take this message to heart "lets just stop fucking up the earth with trash"

You don't have to worry. You make some interesting points. I'm glad my comic has inspired you to respond. Anyways, I'm only using global warming as a backdrop; to add depth to my "universe." Global Warming plays no real role in the plot of SSW.

Thanks again and keep reading!

I would just like to point out that there are a number of reasons that global warming, whether it's happening or not is NOT the fault of humans, despite what Al Gore wants you to think. The idea that humans can have such a large effect on something as complex as the Earth seems quite arrogant to me.

Also, I have heard two things from too many reliable sources to discount:

1. Carbon dioxide has much less effect on trapping of heat and thus global warming than water vapor does, so a lot of the anti-carbon hippies are wrong on at least one count.

2. Global temperatures have not risen noticeably since 1998, and in fact there has been a slight decrease.

Now, in response to the request for links already stated above, here we go. (By the way, all I did was put global temperatures into google and it provided me with the addition of "since 1998" my search terms weren't in any way biased towards either warming or cooling, and so The fact that 4 of the top 6 results indicated cooling, I'm going with that)

Now, the Boston Globe has a report from the beginning of 2008 about 2007's temperatures and the overall trend <a href="http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2008/01/06/br_r_r_where_did_global_warming_go/" rel="nofollow">here.</a>
There is also a number of helpful graphs and information <a href="http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/april2008/040408_cools_off.htm" rel="nofollow">here.</a> *NOTE: I did notice as I was grabbing the link that this does seem to be a heavily biased site, but enough of the data matches up with what I've seen elsewhere that I believe it's still valid.
Two more articles <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/3624242/There-IS-a-problem-with-global-warming...-it-stopped-in-1998.html" rel="nofollow">here</a> and <a>here</a> support the idea.

P.S. I'm not looking for a flame war, I just want to get people to open their minds and think about things, if you still believe in global warming after some digging, that's fine, I still won't until I see enough independent evidence to confirm the wild speculations.

You're right about NY...

But about the links Joenis wanted, My main source was the film 'An Inconvenient Truth.' Al Gore has a really cool animated simulation on what it would look like. Thats movie is also what inspired me to include global warming in the backdrop of the story in the first place.

Having said that, I am definitely stretching reality a bit for artistic purposes :D

To be honest I'm not even sure. I was paying attention to the whole global warming thing a lot more back in college but once i graduated I sorta dumped off with that sort of stuff ...guess since I wasn't surrounded by hippies anymore I started thinking bout it less. It's kind of why i asked him for some links in the first place... Anyway, yeah I could believe that happening to NYC though, most of it is right against the water.. Long Island is completely surrounded by it isn't it? I'm sure that place would be fucked! If you look at LA though, is a perfect basin to get filled up with water; the fact that is closed in by mountains and so close to the waters edge I'd assume it would go under pretty easily.
