After a few weeks of guest strips, The main story of SSW is back with a new art style. This is something new I’m trying out. I usually do SSW completely digitally. This page, however, was drawn and inked by hand, then colored digitally. This is a more relaxing process that I enjoy doing more. Should the new style take over, or should the original remain? Be sure to comment with your reactions.
Also TNP Press has lots of great coverage from SDCC ‘09 that were gonna post during the next couple weeks. Be sure to tune in at TNP Press LIVE

I personally prefer the old style because it looks more real and professional, but I understand it’s probably a more painstaking process. I just think the old style fits the the content of the comic better.
I think that Ali is good with both techniques… it’s just that this technique is newer to him so he has to adjust to a new way of doing things. Either way, he’s definitely doing a good job.
It’s gonna be interesting to see how he goes about this potential change.
Even thought the old way of doing it isnt the most orthodox way of drawing a webcomic (i.e. completely digitally drawn), I have become very comfortible with it, and have even mastered some of my techniques to help get a more “sketchy” feel to it.
Hand-drawn would ultimately be the optimal way of doing SSW. However, I feel like it just needs more work before I fully incorporate it into SSW.
So for now I think i’ll switch back to the old style. Still with The new modeling program, the quality should continue to rise. Now I can focus more on improving coloring and shading vs. sweating the line art.
I just listened to your podcast at Rampage Network , and then i went back through your site again. I now think that your much better on the tablet than you are with the penciling and ink. I’m glad you switched back.
