Text in the strip a bit too small? Larger Version
Decided to squeeze one more page into chapter 3. Here is a excerpt from the pages of a news article from the universe of SSW. Its a good bit of story that i want to convey. Lots of graphic novels use this technique like Watchmen and Surrogates. I find them really important as they really help build depth in the universe of the story. I hope this demonstrates that I’ve thought this story out, quite a bit.
Something I was contemplating was how people feel about pages like this in graphic novels. Sure you wanna just get to the pretty pictures, but I like to believe that Graphic Novels aspire to achieve something more. I believe that graphic novels offer you a universe, and a story from within that universe. I think stuff like a excerpt from that universes magazine or headline of a newspaper, really adds to the production value and authenticity of the novel. They might be a bit grueling to get through sometimes, which is why I’ve stuck to the essentials. So there it is. What are your thoughts?
SSW is gonna through a few changes, at least in the website side of things. First is the big piece of news. SSW is moving to Saturdays. Its mainly due to the fact that this move will complete TNP Press’ (the webcomic collective I belong to and co-founded) schedule. Now there will be at least one new comic every single day of the week. So be sure to check out TNP Press everyday. I am also gonna revamp the site. The poor thing has gone through countless tweeks and adjustment over the past year or so and it’s looking pretty grim. At least to my standards. I’ve been spending the better part of this past month redesigning it to look much cleaner and sleeker.
The new site will launch, with the cover page for chapter 4 this Saturday. The comic will continue as usual every Saturday thereafter.
I was reluctant to actually sit and read this page, but I’m glad I did. It gave a lot of strong clues as to why Cassie has a bounty on her head. This was a pretty interesting way to go about giving a butt load of information. I just hope that other people aren’t turned off by this page’s massive text.
So now that i know Cassie’s dad died in the attack.. I’m not sure if i get the story more or if I’m more confused. lol
Yeah this was just something I wanted to include to flush out some more back story. You definitely don’t have to think about it too much, really just a sort of icing.
