Finally some action, right? What might have seemed as some unecessary panels, pays off now. Hopefully this page catches you off guard, which is what I was going for. I’m sure it works better if you’re reading through chapter 4 in one shot, then get to this page and exclaim “oh shit!”
I tried a different process with this weeks page. Ususally I paint in Illustrator, because it’s really efficient, but through that process, i lose the ability to manipulate the color of the contour, it can only be one color (black). This week, I painted in Photoshop, and manipulated the different parts of the contours. For instance I made Cass’ skin contour closer to her skin color, and the RIO agent’s vest, a darker gold. Although this technique helps the characters look more natural in their setting, it takes FOREVER! Its one of the reasons I’m a couple hours late. I don’t know if i’ll be able to continue this method next week. Although I have a few ideas on how to cut down the time a bit, so we’ll see how it goes.
